Radiac Wheels Turning Boston’s Rose Kennedy Greenway

rose_l Boston, MA, August 1, 2006 -- Radiac Abrasives grinding wheels, cut-off wheels and resin fiber discs were used exclusively by DeAngelis Iron Work of N. Easton, MA to fabricate the Rose Kennedy Greenway North End Park Pergola. The structural steel pergola weighs in at 50 tons, standing 15’ tall and spanning a length of 200’.

DeAngelis Iron used Radiac 4-1/2” and 7” Type 27 Depressed Center Wheels for cutting off and grinding down weld beads. High performance Zirconia resin fiber discs were used to both remove material and provide a suitable surface finish. All products were available off-the-shelf from Radiac and shipped same day as ordered. Radiac’s on-time service and field tested standard stock helped DeAngelis Iron deliver their job to the city of Boston both on-time and to specification.

The Rose Kennedy Greenway is a series of parks and public spaces covering 30 acres located in downtown Boston, MA. It is the final part of the massive Central Artery/Tunnel project that put Interstate 93 underground and removed the obsolete elevated freeway that served at the main highway through downtown for more than 40 years.

The Rose Kennedy Greenway was named in honor of Kennedy family matriarch Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy, and officially dedicated on July 26, 2004, with members of the Kennedy family looking on, including U.S. Senator Edward Mr. Kennedy, the youngest of Rose Kennedy’s children.
